Erw Gerrig Holiday Cottages - Disability Access Statement

Guidelines issued by the Welsh Tourist Board requires all holiday properties to make a Disability Access Statement available to all guests before booking.

Outside The Cottages

Erw Gerrig Country Cottages sit in the heart of the steep sided Ceiriog Valley in a raised position. Access by car is up the drive to the rear of the cottages, the first part of which is quiet steep but which then flattens out. The parking for Erw Gerrig Cottage and Valley View Cottage is on a flat area and the parking for Spring Cottage is on a sloping area.

Access from the parking area is down some slightly narrow and rustic stone steps with hand rails. At the bottom of the steps there is a level gravel path with some inset paving slabs which lead to both the front, side and rear of the cottages.

Alternatively access can be down the sloping drive to near the lane and then along a gravel path which crosses through the gardens and then to the cottages. This path has several rustic stone steps without a handrail. This is also the access for anyone arriving on foot.

Outside the doors to the cottages are a couple of stone steps. The doors are standard width.

There are external lights around the cottages lighting the paths to the front, side and rear. These lights come on at dusk and switch off at midnight. Each cottage has a light outside the front door which can be switched on at anytime independently by the guests.

Inside The Cottages

The cottages have standard width doors throughout. The kitchen, sitting room and dining area in both cottages have standard furniture.

Standard stairs rise to upstairs with a handrail on one side. There are no stair gates but each cottage has a door at the bottom of the stairs, except for the stairs rising from Erw Gerrig Cottage's sitting room. There are lights at the top and the bottom of the stairs.

Valley View Cottage and Spring Cottage both have a shower room upstairs with a standard shower cubicle (two sliding doors in one corner), hand basin and a standard toilet. Erw Gerrig Cottage has a bath with a shower over.

General

The area around the cottages is generally steep, although the lane outside is smooth and only slightly sloping.

Access for less able guests may be difficult, depending on how limited their mobility is. Wheelchair access would be particularly difficult due to the nature of the surrounding area.

If you have any concerns regarding access for any of your party, please contact us before booking.

Thank you.
